RE: Which "B's" have you owned and why did you get them?

These are great replies, very interesting. I already have been browsing Sportsmobile and Tiger websites just for kicks.
To Handbasket: We already go offroad whenever we can in our Wrangler (3rd one), and I like Chevys, so that Tiger on a 4X4 Chevy looks verrry interesting. It looks to be about a foot taller than my PW. How is the side to side sway?
Everyone else, please share your B history, it's very interesting.
Thanks

Which "B's" have you owned and why did you get them?

After reading a different thread I saw a member who was on B number 8.
I found that to be very interesting and would love to know which B's everyone has owned (year make model), why you switched if you had more than 1 B, and maybe your top likes and dislikes.
I'll start -
I'm on my first B, 07 PW Lexor RL4. Like 4 seats in front, hidden A/C on top. Dislike, a little long, would like a little shorter.
Please share your B history.
Thanks!

RE: Where to dump & gas on 5 Fwy btwn 57Fwy and Chula Vista

I don't have a th, but I know the area http://www.eltororvservice.com/
exit Sand Canyon, next to Traveland USA, real tight for 40' but doable if you are good. dump only open during business hours. Next door is 76 station, but call El toro to be sure about diesel.
If you can wait to dump until Chula, much more room at http://www.chulavistarv.com/
The only other dumps on that stretch are in gas stations, but too small for 40'
There is the rest area south of San Clemente, but don't know if the dump is still open for business.
BTW, where can I get info on the CORR race? We would love to see it.
Regards

RE: Primary Vehicle

My 08 Lexor is my daily driver. Removed all PW badging and all the swirly vinyl stickers all over the van and it looks much better. Upgraded the wheels and audio/video. Keep snacks and drinks on board. In parking lots prefer pull thru spots.
After you get used to it you feel confined in a car, mainly because you can't get up and move around.
You get used to having all the comforts with you all the time.

RE: New Shocks

How often you should replace shocks depends on how picky you are with the performance and safety of your rig on the road, and how tolerant you are of poor performance.
I drove my 07 Lexor about 7 months before the OE shocks went bad (extra bouncing). Went with Monroe Reflex, mainly because they were readily available for the 07 Express 3500.
There was a HUGE improvement in handling.
My rig weighs about 8100 lbs with just the driver, about 9000 lbs with 4 people and loaded for camping and travel.
Point is these rigs weigh much more than cars and fresh shocks are important, especially at highway speeds. I don't believe the "push down or jump on the bumper test" is valid on 8000 - 9000 lb vans.
Don't wait for your shocks to leak, most shocks lose their performance well before they start leaking.
Fresh shocks are a cheap way to improve handling and safety. In fact, fresh shocks once a year is a great idea, considering the stability they add at highway speeds. These rigs are more comfortable to drive with fresh shocks.

RE: What's wrong with Illinois?

> What's wrong with Illinois?
Nothing a few beers couldn't fix.
Seriously, IL is a beautiful state and quite varied from north to south.
Stay off the big roads and go thru the small towns, it's a great state to ride a motorcycle. Lots of open roads.

Over the years, I have absorbed far more valuable, helpful info from people who had spelling and grammar issues, and much less formal education than I have from highly educated people... go figure.

RE: Roadtrek Fueling Problems

Yes, the vapor recovery hoses are a PITA, especially when too old (soft) or too new (hard). I have had problems with domestic, euro and asian vehicles. In my unscientific experiments, I have found the same vehicle will have problems at one station and not another. These were the same brand, so assume same equipment.
In addition to the level the rig is resting when refueling, also try turning the key on(without starting) then off, while the fuel cap is removed.
Have you tried really extreme angles with the filler pump?
If things get very bad, try driving up on leveling blocks just on the drivers side when you fill up. Sounds like a PITA, but not compared to 20 minutes at the pump.
I know free warranty work is preferred, but if you know a good independent mechanic, I would have him look at it, just to avoid more headaches.
Good luck

RE: Rolling with Refer - Propane or DC?

My 3 way fridge stays on propane 24/7. In my experience, the fridge is colder on propane than DC.

RE: Cost of campground rates going up...........

Don't forget liability insurance, workman's comp insurance, payroll taxes, energy costs, salary and wages. In some parts of the country these add up to really big bucks.
Oh, and then there is the funny idea of making a profit and building a savings.
Yes some places seem costly, but I still see campgrounds and rv resorts that cater to all levels of campers and rv'ers.

Is it ok to leave fridge on 24/7 ?

In other words, do the absorbtion type fridges "wear out" any quicker if they run 24/7. Our class B stays at the house and we keep the fridge on propane 24/7.
We love having a stocked fridge wherever we go, so we won't turn it off, but we just want to know if we should expect a shorter life from the fridge.
Thanks

Nice rv park/resort near Branson/Springfield/Bull Shoals

Hi everyone,
We will be visiting family near Springfield, MO. For part of the visit we need a real nice luxury type rv resort. We won't be going to Branson, so we don't want to be in town. We can go north to Springfield, south to Branson and east to east end of Bull Shoals lake.
What would be some nice rv parks to consider?
Thanks

RE: is this a class B

Here is a link to a MB Cruiser brochure.

On edit: Mod. added the link.
Wow, that van is sweet. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Great floorplan. Does anyone know if a floorplan like that is available from another van maker?
Thanks
